We have two Los Angeles cafés — one in the Downtown LA Fashion District at 1118 San Julian Street (City Market South), and one in the Culver City Arts District at 6114 Washington Boulevard. Our roastery is at the DTLA location, and we ship whole bean coffee nationwide from cogcoffee.com.

What kind of coffee does Cognoscenti roast?

We roast single-origin microlots and small-batch blends. Our single-origins come from specific farms and harvests, chosen for distinctive character. Our blends are designed for everyday brewing — pour-over, espresso, and cold brew.

What's the difference between single-origin and blends?

Single-origin coffee comes from one farm or region in a single harvest, which lets the character of that specific coffee come through clearly. Blends combine beans from multiple origins to create a balanced, consistent flavor profile that works well across brewing methods.

How fresh is the coffee?

We roast in small batches and ship within a few days of roasting. Coffee is at its best within four to six weeks of the roast date, and we date every bag so you know exactly when it was roasted.

How should I store whole bean coffee?

Keep beans in an airtight container at room temperature, away from light, heat, and moisture. Avoid the fridge or freezer for daily-use coffee — temperature swings cause condensation that degrades flavor. Grind right before brewing for the best cup.

What brewing equipment do you recommend?

We carry brewing supplies in both cafés and online, including pour-over drippers, kettles, scales, grinders, and filters. If you're not sure where to start, our café team is happy to help you find gear that fits how you brew at home.

Do you offer a coffee subscription?

Yes. You pick the coffee, the frequency, and the grind, and we ship whole beans roasted-to-order from our LA roastery. You can skip, pause, or swap your selection anytime.
